The Sustainable Urban Transport Project (SUTP) Asia is a partnership between the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA), CITYNET and the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP). It aims to help developing world cities achieve their sustainable transport goals, through the dissemination of information about international experience, policy advice, training and capacity building and targeted work on sustainable transport projects within cities. Photographer Manfred Breithaupt Location Delhi, India 2012 Description Fresh Milk Delivery Think Bus cost effective for society, attractive for customers The 7^th International Bus Conference, organised in Istanbul by the International Association of Public Transport (UITP) and hosted by TOHOB (Turkish Private Urban Bus Operators Association) and IETT (General Directorate for Istanbul Buses) from April 18-20 , entitled Think Bus cost effective for society, attractive for customers, reinforced the key role bus systems can play in the mobility chain as well as their assets in terms of economic performance, innovation and customer service quality. UN Global Conference on Assessing inland transport CO2 emissions and mitigation policies On 24 April BtG partners GIZ and ITDP will be presenting at a one day event in Geneva entitled United Nations Global Conference on Assessing inland transport CO2 emissions and the impact of mitigation policies. Organised by Transport Division of the UNECE it is part of a wider UN initiative to develop a uniform methodology for calculating detailed transport CO2 emissions using existing models but streamlined to meet UN Requirements. Yogyakartas parliament visits Palembangs TransMusi bus system Representatives of Jogjas Parliament visited the City of Palembang on April 17-18. The two day visit was intended for learning from Palembangs success in developing the modern bus transport system that is called TransMusi. Within two years of operation, TransMusis fleet has grown from only 25 buses to 120 buses, all equipped with GPS. The remarkable thing about that is, against the local believe, TransMusi has grown without any operational subsidy. Residential training course on urban transport in Colombo, Sri Lanka from 8-10 May, 2012 GIZ-SUTP, together with EMBARQ India will conduct a 2.5 day residential training course on sustainable urban transport (SUT) for over 30 senior level policymakers from various departments in Sri Lanka, from 8-10^th May, 2012. The course contents include introduction to SUT, land use and transport planning, urban road safety and travel demand management for developing cities. View program.
